Driver for WebCam NX Pro windows 7

All replies

  • The driver is actually located here . As Logitech no longer supports this device, there won't likely be Windows 7 drivers for it. However, if your processor supports virtualization you can actually install these Windows XP drivers using this method.

  • Bit of a bump but I came across this topic while searching for a solution to the same problem.

I found a solution after looking up my camera in mac cam's database: http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/cameras/camera.php?id=500

It mentions that there are drivers on this site: http://www.vimicro.com/english/product/pc003.htm and if you download the ZC0301PL driver and force it to install (Device Manager, Update Driver... Choose, Choose from a List, Have Disk..., browse to extracted files) it works like a charm!

Probably a way of modifying the ini file to make it auto-install but I can't remember the trick to do it.

  • Why are you asking this? My post clearly explains how to get the Windows 7 driver working. You have to force the ZC0301PL driver from http://www.vimicro.com/english/product/pc003.htm to install.

  • I have the same webcam. I downloaded four different versions of the ZC* drivers from ViMicro, and in each case when I use Device Manager > Add Legacy Hardware > Show All Devices > Have Disk and then select the .inf, the list of devices is blank. I have Windows 7 x64.
    Wednesday, May 05, 2010 4:05 AM
  • Add legacy hardware is wrong. You have to find the camera in device manager, it'll be an unknown device of some sort, then you go to properties, update driver. Then choose "Don't search I'll choose a driver to install", click show all devices and press next. After windows finishes chugging away, do "Have Disk..." and point it at the folder where you extracted the drivers.

I'm using the camera fine and dandy on Windows 7 x64 myself, so I know it works ;)

    Wednesday, May 05, 2010 4:13 AM
  • The 'add legacy hardware' wizard is a failsafe whose intention is to allow arbitrary device software to be added even if the device isn't allowing for new drivers. When I try to update the driver in the regular way as you suggest, Windows simply says that no drivers for my device have been found (with all four driver packages). The fact that the drivers don't work with either method, along with the fact that the camera works in linux, suggests that it's a driver problem and not a hardware problem.
    Wednesday, May 05, 2010 10:08 AM
  • How strange, I experienced none of the issues you describe. Tonight I'll see if I can change the USB ID inside the inf file to make it compatible, then windows shouldn't have a problem identifying it.
    Wednesday, May 05, 2010 4:33 PM
  • Awesome! For what it's worth, my camera is USB\VID_041E&PID_401E&REV_0100 - and it seems in the INFs, the VIDs are all 0AC8. 041E is Creative as far as I can tell.

Edit - when I change the .inf device path to match the above, the driver installs, but no video information can be retrieved from the TWAIN source, so it's pretty clear that this is the wrong driver for this webcam.

  • I have the same problem, the original driver didn't work for my Windows 7 x64.

I've searched the web and found thread and a new x64 driver from VIMICRO ZC0301PL,
which should be work, since it uses the same CMOS module as Creative WebCam NX Pro.

But however, that driver is not working for NX Pro,
so I've tried take file from VIMICRO to replace the original driver,
and made some modification in the INF file.. and it works (except TWAIN / VFW)

Note that the files from VIMICRO are not signed, that might popup an warning message.

Do not install this modified driver, if there's any security concern.

    Here's the modified file:

  • Nice Job CornGuo! I haven't tested it but if you've done what I think you have then there is no reason it shouldn't work. I meant to do this myself actually but never got around to it. Hopefully people who need the driver will find it :) NX Pro is still a great webcam and people often compliment the quality even today, despite being 5 years old now.
    Tuesday, June 08, 2010 10:15 PM
  • unfortunately, your success with the new driver to make the NX Pro work with Widows 7 seems to have taken off and the file download has met it's limit.  Here's the error I get when trying to download it:

This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.

    This limit is reached.

To download this file, the uploader either needs to transfer this file into his/her Collector's Account, or upload the file again. The file can later be moved to a Collector's Account. The uploader just needs to click the delete link of the file to get further information.

  • Hey guys,

I'm having the same problem that vailco is having. limit reached.

Can somebody upload the file somewhere else again?

If not, please help me by trying to explain what CornGuo replaced, what he probably modified in the .ini etc. I tried some things my self but couldn't get it to work.

A small how too would be great!

hope somebody can help me and vailco out.

  • one driver file editted and fixed for 64 bit

i know it works i just tested it, just uninstall and drivers you previously tried for the cam and then manually point the driver update to this folder wherever you have it

hope that helps all that need it

  • About a year ago I used the original VMICRO driver and installed it to my Win 7  64 bit system completely unaltered. Last week I install the Windows XP mode and virtual PC and the driver was no longer recognized and could not be reinstalled. I changed the 3 lines in the *inf file as prescribed above by mschubert and the driver reinstalled with no problems. The cam is back up and running.

I changed line 30- line 37 in the usbvm31b.inf to

    [VM]
    %USB\VID_0AC8&PID_0302.DeviceDesc%=VM.USBDCam302,USB\VID_041E&PID_403A

Having a Creative Webcam NX Pro too, in my situation I have used the original vimicro driver with the inf modified as above since that my hardware id PID and VID. Didn't work and only got a blank image. Tried your files with the different VID/PID and even the Vimicro original inf and neither worked. I'd appreciate if someone with more knowledge and skills could identify why this solution isn't working for me.

  • There are 2 different hardware versions of this camera, ID 401 and ID 403a    Apparently only the 403a version is compatible with the Vimicro Products driver, sorry!  If you have a hardware revision 401 then the only way you can get it working is with the original Creative driver for Windows XP, running in Virtualization with the method Adam M MCP linked to.

I just picked up a used Logitec camera from Goodwill for $8 that is Win 7/8 compatible and is the same resolution as the NX so really, at some point the argument that it's not economically justifyable to support these things holds some water.  Just sayin!

Thanks for saving me a bunch of time :-) I was trying to use the Vimicro driver and got it installed (after modifying the .inf file) but the device itself just didn't work. Based on what the Device Manager reports for the device, I guess I have the 401 so I'm out of luck. Oh well. I figured I'd should share one bit of info I learned for people who do have the 403 and are trying to install the driver on Windows 10, which became more "aggressive" about not wanting to install unsigned drivers (you can't just click "Yeah, go ahead and install it anyway" now): Check out http://www.technipages.com/enable-disable-device-driver-signing.

I downloaded the driver from here
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/webcam-nx-pro-with-windows-7-64-bits/37122b31-19d4-4494-8c41-d106e9c2bfac?page=2

I`m also tried with the inf in this topic, mine is 403A but when I try to install the driver window say something about the hash.

Anyone knows how to solve this?

  • I recently updated to WIN 10 64 bit and couldn't get the camera to work, I have got the NX Pro camera and have tried loads of different drivers for my 401E type device, forget the VIMIRCO drivers, all I got was a black screen

    USB\VID_041E&PID_401E&REV_0100
    USB\VID_041E&PID_401E

I couldn't get any of the above drivers to work so I dug and I dug some more, found this guy called "Coolnickname' on this forum (page 2) with a link to a driver pack

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/webcam-nx-pro-with-windows-7-64-bits/37122b31-19d4-4494-8c41-d106e9c2bfac

    http://www.vancitynetworking.com/downloads/Creative_NXPro_64bit.zip

You might have to force the install by saying you have disc but people above have said how to do that

Hope it helps somebody, it worked for me WIN 10 64 BIT CREATIVE NX PRO PD1130 type 401E

    Good luck

    Hi Gimdfwl

    take a look here

    http://jbcomp.com/disable-device-driver-signing-in-windows-10/

that will show you what to do, you might need to write it down / print it off as you wont be able to follow all steps as machine reboots part way through the 10 steps

Works just fine, if u have the right drivers 401 use the one you have linked to or 403 use VIMIRCO so i have been told
