Creating a bootable DVD from the downloaded .ISO RRS feed

  • Question

  • I downloaded the Win 7 RC .iso a couple days ago and transfered it to my wife's laptop that's running Vista.  I also downloaded Deepburner to burn a bootable DVD.  I've gone through nearly 10 DVDs and none will boot.  What do I need to do to get this to work?  Does this .iso need to be converted to an .ima?  Do I need to tell Deepburner to make this bootable...or just burn the .iso to the DVD because the .iso is already bootable?  Help.

  • I just burned the ISO to dvd using the ISO burner built in to Vista.  Worked fine without any additional input.

  • The only program that she has on the laptop is NTI and I tried using that program but it will not allow me to make a bootable dvd from the .iso because of the file size.  I guess my biggest question is, do you have to tell the program to burn an .iso from the windows7.iso or just burn a data cd with the .iso on it?  Will a data cd with an .iso be bootable?

  • I have had troubles with BIOS being in the wrong boot configuration so like I must go into bios to select the boot type whether it be LEGACY or something called EFI or the both or whatever. The trouble here is no one is telling you exactle what is needed for generic bootups. Each program which created bootable disks should incluse a set of boot profiles so you need not get them from elsewhere.

Bootable DVDs do not need a Legacy or EFI boot profile, so I would have to assume you are totally unfamiliar with the subject of the thread!
