The Windows Server 2012 Essentials is stuck in automatic repair loop. RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • The Windows Server 2012 Essentials is stuck in automatic repair loop. When in repair mode the C drive is the recovery drive, D is where windows is and E is where the server folders are. Found this out after running diskpart list volumes. So far nothing that has resolved the issue. This is a RAID 5 setup using an intel RAID controller. Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi @Yasir,

    Please try the below steps.

    1. If the automatic repair can’t fix your computer and you get stuck in a repair loop, you should disable the automatic startup repair. Type the following command and press Enter:

bcdedit /set {default} recovery enabled No

    2. A corrupted registry settings can also cause an auto-repair loop. Here is how to restore your registry from the RegBack directory. The RegBack folder is located in :/windows/system32/config, which is used by Windows to hold a recent backup copy of the registry hives.

Assuming your system drive is d: run the following command to restore the Windows registry:

    copy d:\windows\system32\config\RegBack\* d:\windows\system32\config

if prompted to overwrite existing files, type All and hit Enter. Type exit and hit Enter to close the Command Prompt window. Restart your computer and most probably, you may able to access your Windows system as before.

    Thanks,
    Alana

  • I had a similar situation, I managed to solve the problems by booting in safe mode. Some data was damaged, only a small part of it. I easily restored them with the help of RAID Recovery https://www.diskinternals.com/raid-recovery/ The case is not easy, but there is no need to panic.
