  • No, only Windows Virtual PC is supported.

VPC 2007 will run on Windows 7, but 2004 will not.

I am assuming you are asking because you want to run Windows 98.  You can use the VPC2004 additions in VPC2007 and get Shared Folders.

  • What? Installing VPC2007?  Getting the Windows 98 Additions?

You need to remove Windows VPC first, then you can install VPC2007.

Once that's done you can set up your Win98 VM in VPC2007.  You can get the Windows98 Additions from my website http://www.essjae.com/virtualization

  • I already have VPC2007 installed and running a Win98 VM.  Are these the instructions on installing the Win98 Additions?

    ========

    Install the VM Additions
    46. Before installing any Windows Updates, the next step is to install the VM Additions and get additional performance from the VM. If the mouse pointer is captured in the VM, press the host-key to release it. Click Action?Install or Update Virtual Machine Additions from the Windows 98 VM window menu.
    47. Click Continue to begin the installation.
    48. Virtual Machine Additions (VMA): Click Next to begin the installation.
    49. VMA: Click Finish to complete the installation.
    50. VMA: Click Yes to restart the VM. After restarting the VMA will be loaded and there should be a noticeable improvement in performance.

  • Yes.  Installing the Additions should be simple compared to everything you've already done. :)

  • I hope so :), but when I click on the Actions menu, I only see these options:

    -view full screen
    -sleep
    -close

I don't see "Install or Update Virtual Machine Additions".  What am I doing wrong?

  • You are not running VPC 2007 then, what you're describing is the Action menu for Windows VPC for Windows 7.  Huge difference between them.

  • Thank you for the clarification! Do you have a link to VPC 2007 download by any chance?

  • Sorry, but this won't run on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

  • You need to completely remove Windows VPC before you can install VPC 2007.
