Mailto in Windows 7

    General discussion

  • Bad it seems that Microsoft does not support web-aplications such as Hotmail for this type of things, cuz it becomes impossible to send files from explorer without a mail client, nor can be sent images from windows live photo gallery.

I hope Microsoft allowed Windows Live Mail for this kind of action already to which we didn't use customers mail, we could be without several features of this new generation systems and that's not valid

  • Changing a registry key may work:

Click the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail. In the right pane Double-click Default and type Hotmail as the value data.

If it doesn’t work, change it back to Windows Live Mail.

  • What happens if you right-click the file to be sent and choose Send To > Mail recipient?

  • Open Hotmail, but the file is not attached, I mean just open a regular "New Email" webpage

  • I don’t know if this appeals to you but another thing to try is to put the Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail.

  • Mmm, what I dont want is Windows Live Mail in my computer, but anyway, what you recomend to me is just fine, now, at least, when I click on "E-mail"(or Send-Mail Recipient), it send me to Hotmail and does'nt give me this message anymore... "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action..."

    Thank u
