Windows 8.1 RTM "Forget this Network" missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed an RTM version of 8.1 Enterprise and was having an issue with a wireless connections.  In Windows 8 I could right click the connection and get several options such as forget this network, set as metered, etc..  This is now missing in 8.1 RTM.  Is Microsoft aware of this issue and is it going to be addressed ASAP?  Not really practical to view and remove wireless settings from command line.

  • Thanks for the reply Kelvin.  This release of 8.1 is suppose to make the end user experience better which in most aspects is but for this to be part of the design is unfortunately a bad idea.  How does this make it easier for a user if they are having issues with a wireless network to open a command line window, remember the command and forget the network instead of just right clicking and selecting forget this network.  Maybe engineers need to deal with more end users or get more end user feedback before thinking something is a good idea.  Also, why have all the selections been moved such as metered network?

I am sorry but if indeed this is by design Microsoft should do a quick search and find all the posts about this one missing feature and bring it back before the release in October.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your feedback.

I thought I read it as designed by defect but when I read it for a second time I was shocked with the word 'default'. So, if you said that it is designed by default, how do I set the wifi connection as a metered network? Previously I was able to right click on the connection and set it as metered network but now do I need to use command prompt and do the same thing? Is Baldmer trying to prove that MSDOS is better than Windows 8?

    Edit:

Got it how to set a connection as metered in Windows 8.1 http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-set-a-connection-as-metered-in-windows-8-1/

but the Forgot Network setting should be included together in the setting group.
