    Question

  • Please help!
I have been using windows 7 since build 6801 to 7000 and everything works fine for me. when RC1 came out i decided to do a clean installation for my pc to win7 rc1.
so I have successfully installed windows 7 three days ago and it ran smoothly until last night.
the problem occurs when i tried to put my computer to sleep.
instead of shutting it down, the screen went black but it is still on, and the cpu was still running.
no action was taken until this morning when i push reset button,
windows logo load up then went to black screen.
    1st attempt: do nothing.
    reboot.
windows logo load up then hangs there.
    2nd attempt: do nothing.
    reboot.
    3rd attempt: repair windows.
    no error found.
    reboot.
windows logo load up then hangs there.
    reboot.
4th attempt: repair windows via restore point
    reboot.
windows logo load up then black screen.
    reboot.
5th attempt: clean installation. delete partition, recreate partition, format, install.
    reboot.
selected options: update using recommended settings, finished set-up internet.
windows logo boot up and freezes on a black screen.
    reboot.
6th attempt: clean installation. delete partition, recreate partition, format, install windows vista!
    reboot.
    everything loads fine.
    reboot.
7th attempt: clean installation. delete partition, recreate partition, format, install.
    reboot.
selected options: do not update, no internet link.
    reboot.
screen hangs at windows is preparing your desktop. hdd light not on, no mouse cursor.

i have tried the possible ways to do it but i have no clue as to what has gone wrong. why did the first installation went fine and ran well and out of a sudden it doesnt even load.

    my computer specifications are:
    intel core2 quad q6600
    gigabyte nvidia geforce 8800gt
    4gb ram
    d-link 108g desktop adapter

  • Try disconnecting unnecessary peripherals (like your external sound card) next time you install, until you can get everything working properly.
