I am running windows 8 64. WMI Provider Host is consuming 50% of CPU or more. My machine was constantly running right at the 98% level. I made some adjustments to McAfee (reducing what is looked at and the level of interrogation to be performed)
and now my CPU usage is now in the 60% to 70% range. If I was to turn off the "Windows Management Instrumentation", my CPU usage drops to 9%. Seems I can not leave this turned off and have windows function correctly. What is going
on with this process and why is it consuming all of the CPU? Seems like none of the threads on this forum which reference WMI are talking about another operating system, so I was leary of following the course of action suggested to correct.
