Win explorer won't allow access to external 10T seagate scsi after upgrade from 32bit to 64 bit win 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Before I start I'd like to explain that this laptop previously had win 10 32 bit installed on it for the past six moths and that I had full and complete access to the external hard drive with absolutely NO problems.

Now after upgrading the same laptop to win 10 64 bit, windows explorer cannot access the external hdd.  ie d:\access denied.

All permissions are set to full and complete access and control.

Glary Disk Explorer will recognize the disk and allow me in, but unlike windows explorer it restricts what I can do with files and directories.  I can move them to my c:\  drive, but cannot copy or run them directly from the external harddrive.

I find it strange that 3rd party software works, but windows explorer will not.

    Sony Vio Laptop

    Intel i7 Core

    8gb Ram

200 GB solid state internal harddrive

    Currently Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit

    Version 1809

    Build 17763.292

I will gladly supply any and all additional information upon request.

I've been a computer tech for almost 50 years from main frames to 8086 and on to present day, but this one really has me stumped.

I appreciate any knowledgeable information on this issue.

                                           Thanks Martin
