    File Type Associations

How do I remove the program's association a file (e.g. "notepad.exe" is bound to the file extension ".tmp")? I was able to do it in Windows XP, why can't I do it here? Don't tell me you guys removed it.

If it was actually removed (for whatever reason), is it possible to send me a registry file with all the default file extensions?

Also, the Windows Explorer seems to fail at remember the view files even though the "remember each folder's view settings is checked" (I double-checked it).
