Worked fine, then I shut down (power off) and restarted my cable modem + router.
Power back on = web doesn't work in Win7. Works fine if I reboot into XP (like right now) but not in Win7.
In the dos prompt I can ping a few sites, but in IE I can't bring up any web pages - not even the router config page (http://192.168.0.1)
Any ideas? Where's the "repair" button??

Go to your network center in control panel, click on your connection and diagnose and post what it says.
It says "Troubleshooting could not identify the problem... click more for" (blah blah more useless stuff)
I can ping sites by name in the dos prompt (so DNS works) it just never works in IE 8.
I can also play online games just fine.
So, IE 8 is broken. Any suggestions? Firefox?
How do you re-install IE?
Or do I just have to wipe Win7 and re-install?

as of yesterday morning I have same issue; IE8 is unable to load web pages
strangely it can display only 2 web pages, but trying anything else results in a cannot load web page error message
the other strange thing is FireFox and Opera display same issue and I'm able to load the 2 same pages
ping works; tried to flush dns; reset the IE8 advanced options to default; restated the PC, restarted the router; network troubleshooter dispays nothing wrong
Bingo, Firefox works.
Posting this from Win7 with Firefox.
Took all of 3 minutes to install configure and run, too.
IE8 = broken.
I agree, IE* is not the best. but you said you could not get on the web at all with Windows 7. You said only XP would work. These are 2 different problems. I too, use Firefox. I bete tested IE8 and was not impressed, it is not any better now than then. Weather or not Firefox or IE8 are used for browsers does not change the web connection.
