Windows 7 Problem with Teredo tunnelling interface RRS feed

  • Have been getting to grips with Windows 7 over the past couplew of weeks.  suddenly noticed todat that when I go "Start-Devices & Printers" that the icon for CHRIS-PC has an exclamation mark so ran the troubleshooter.  It tells me that the Driver needs reloading for this and said "shall I do it for you?" (or words to that effect), to which I replied Yes please as I don't believe in unneccessary work and haven't the faintest idea how I'd go about that anyway.

    Well, it couldn't do it, so a fat lot of use that was.  Note - have reviewed the Related Topic Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface and his problem hasn't been solved either.

    Device manager (i.e.Hardware tab for CHRIS-PC) shows the entry for "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter" as Unable to start (Code 10). Properties - Driver tab shows the driver file at C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\Tunnel.sys which all seems very reasonable & logical.  File version 6.1.7600.16385 (WIN7_rtm.090713-1255) - why the ____ can't we cut and paste text out of these damn information displays!!!

    OK - heres my info:
    I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium
    It's a Foxconn M61PMV
    AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 2.80 GHz
    1.86 Usable Gb
    32- Bit

  • Hi Chris,


    The Teredo Tunneling Adapter is an IPv6 related feature; if you don’t use IPv6, we can disable this virtual device:


    1.    Open an elevated command prompt and run the following command:


    netsh interface teredo set state disabled


    2.    Go to Device Manager and uninstall Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter if it is there.


    In addition, I would like to share the following with you:


    Support for IPv6 in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7


    Internet Protocol Version 6, Teredo, and Related Technologies in Windows Vista
