How do I display last refresh date? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I want to show the most recent model/cube Process date on the webpage with my Dashboard webparts so the users know when the data was last refreshed.

The PPS model cube has a Last Processed date, but I cannot access it from the D-Designer tools.

I have made an elaborate log table in SQLServer to store dates by adding a data flow to my SSIS Analysis Process which runs the process on the cube. But then I have to make a PivotTable chart or SQL Report to pull out the dates and display in a webpart, and it is all messy. Is the date stored somewhere in the PPSSystem database?

Is there an easy way to present the date when the cube was last refreshed?

    thanks..

    Hi there,

Here are a couple of options.  Note that if you redeploy/overwrite your cube they may or may not get lost.

    http://www.codeplex.com/TSSASM

    http://www.codeplex.com/ASStoredProcedures

You could then write a simple sql statement or mdx statement to pull the information.

Otherwise a native sql rule that writes the current date/time to a dummy member might be a good option.

    cheers,

  • Thanks for the reply, very interesting, but wow... writing a .NET CLR program and applying it to the SQLServer instance is way more complicated then making a log file from SSIS when running the cube reprocess task. I can see that there could be lots a benefits from adding that piece of code, by that is too intrusive on a client site.

I was hoping for an easy method of using Designer to present the last processed date in an object for use in a dashboard. I will look into it further..

  • I posted a question to the SSIS forum to get some help on making a suitable script to get the lastprocessed date from a cube using the analysis object calls. It is getting there but still a few problems..
