Running Windows Vista 64 Ultimate on my home PC with Vista SP2 and recently the Windows Media player stopped working. When launching the application an 'Unable To Locate Component' windows pops up statting 'This application has failed to start because AVRT.dll was not found. Re-installing the applications may fix this problem. The promblem is, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to run a repair on the Windows Media Player 11 after it has been fully service-packed. The AVRT.dll is present on my system in C:\Windows\System32 as version 6.0.6001.18000.
I'm thinking that something has messed up the registry entries that link in this .dll.
Has anyone already experienced this problem and found an efficient way to fix it?
