host process for windows services stopped working (BSODs)

  • So I have windows vista 32-bit OEM.  After about 1-2 hrs on my PC I get an error stating "host process for windows services stopped working".  When this happens I can no longer run anything that requires administrator privileges.  On top of that lately I've been getting BSODs.  I haven't been able to see what they say each time, but the last time mentioned ATAPort.sys.  I recently installed new windows updates but was having issues with this before then.  I checked problem reports, it states that I may be missing an important update... yet I can't click on the website in the solution because the website doesn't exist and I can't figure out how to connect to windows updates on the website, because again, the site doesn't exist, or at least I can't access it.

I checked under Event Viewer for services that stopped around the same time and there is a numerous amount.  I will attach the clipboard of the problem report:
