Event 41, Kernel-Power, bugcheckcode 126

    Question

  • Had this crash twice last month in the same day, then not again until today.  Had it twice in this evening.  I've found the bugcheck code page here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff559239%28v=VS.85%29.aspx

But I have no idea what the next step should be.  I can provide dump files if needed.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated as I would prefer not to have to do a fresh install (especially when I'm not sure that would resolve the issue anyway!)  Also have bugcheck 265 and bugcheck 0.

  • Can you zip up the minidump files and make available (provide link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site?

The following link has information on using Windows Live SkyDrive:

Please let me know if I can provide anything else.

  • The earlier minidump files showed a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b) stop error caused by the atikmdag.sys.

Consider rolling back the video drivers to a previous stable version.

Also, consider testing the RAM with a memory tester such as Memtest86+.

  • Well I'm not overclocked, so I suppose that leaves the video hardware and/or driver.  I just switched out my RAM for a new set recently, so I'm going to venture a guess that that's not the issue, but I'll run some diags anwyay.

  • All crashes have occurred at idle or very low activity, and I routinely use this system for 5+ hour video encoding jobs without incident.  I've never measured more than 250-300 watts at the wall.  I appreciate the feedback, but I don't believe insufficient power is the issue.
