Upgrade failure from Win 10 1607,1703 to 1803 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

My client is planning to upgrade from 1607-1803 directly skipping 1703,1709. I am getting the following error in SCCM when I try to upgrade from 1607-1803 or 1703 to 1803.

Windows Setup failed with hexadecimal exit code 0x80070003 (decimal 2147942403). To identify the type of issue, lookup it against the table of known values of Windows Setup errors online.

I see the following error in the setuperr.log.

  • I have downloaded the latest bits from the MS Volume Licensing site, updated my DP's and the upgrade went fine.

    Thanks for your inputs.

  • error in the setuperr.log.

You should use the SetupAct.log to find out the context for these messages.

Otherwise you need to guess what this implies

    PS>net helpmsg (0x3)

The system cannot find the path specified.

  • Hi,

The error code 0x80070003 occurs if there are Windows Update files that are missing on your PC.

You can run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027322/windows-update-troubleshooter

If that doesn't help then you can reset Windows Updater:

What are the "latest bits"?  I'm having the same problem.  So far the only fix is to upload a new copy of the Windows 10 files.

    Thanks
