after upgrading win8 from altavita my laptop built-in: SD card slot - doesn't recognize any sd cards any more.
its seems to work just fine if i use that adapter card box that plug though the USB - so nothing is wrong with the card... in fact i have saved the boot win8 installation .exe from that built in SD card - last time its worked.
sd card slots etc are notorious for driver nonsense
i spent some $ on a usb 56-in-1 that works fine with all skus of windows from xp up including server

"Btw what do you mean by:"upgrading win8 from altavita""
sorry: i had altavista before and than i insulted windows 8 on top of the existing altavista... rather than format the machine & than install the new windows 8....
i hop its more clear now.
Hello I m facing a similar problem on my DELL 1535. I upgraded from Vista to Windows 8 and now my internal card slot is not working any solutions. I have checked my control panel and tried updating the drivers for some unknown buss controller but windows somehow can't find the drivers.
I think this is a common problem for all windows 8 upgrades. Any advice how to fix the internal card slot ??
