Windows 7 Monthly Rollups fail RRS feed

  • Question

  • Having problems loading updates on my Windows 7 32 bit PC. We have been trying to load Monthly Rollups manually downloaded from the MS Catalog site, and the update fails. I have gone through renaming softwaredistribution and catroot/catroot2 folders, ran the Windows Update troubleshooter, ran dskchk /r, confirmed latest servicing stack, confirmed that there is plenty of disk space on all drives and partitions, Good on RAM too. Still fails. I noticed that I am getting these errors in my CBS.log:

  • A few updates/installs might-should help..1st,install & run:  890830  2nd: 947821  3rd:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20

3rd is update advisor..This being you have enabled  .NET  in Win components (Add/Remove)

    After the above,download & install:  windowsupdateagent-7.6-x86  or  windowsupdateagent 20-x86

Actually .NET v2.0 is the key....It just needs to be enabled in Win components..

  • Thank you for the response.

I have tried to install multiple updates, and tools via MS, however have not been able to. Have gotten the above errors when I try, and the update fails.

If I have .NET 3.5.1 installed and enabled in the WIN features, is that OK? Or does it NEED to be 2.0?

  • Hi,

"CBS    Failed to extract files from cabinet \\?\C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\dedeaabdbc9dddefa86fab5bd2a047d4\Windows6.1-KB4103718-x86.cab [HRESULT = 0x80070008 - ERROR_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY]"

Please monitor your memory usage when you try to install update package. Or we could try to boot into clean boot environment to check if the issue occur again.

Run command line "Sfc /scannow" to repair corrupt system files and use the following link to reset Windows update components.

    Bests,
