8.1 Update - group policy changes

    Question

  • After updating to windows 8.1, all apps etc were removed as advised.  Whilst trying to re-install, windows advise the group policy is preventing them from being installed.  Am I able to recover my previous settings?

I am not familiar with this level of settings and would like some specific guidance.

  • You can't restore Windows 8 by using the System Restore feature.

Have you verified that there is not the group policy settings preventing an installation for programs?

  • Hi,

Generally speaking, the update process will not change the GP settings.

We can try to reset local GP to default setting and check if the issue is really caused by GP:

How to Reset Local Group Policy to Default in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8

If the issue still persists, please upload the detailed information about this error message including screenshot and event log.

    Look forward to your response.
