Windows Explorer has stopped working Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

    Question

  • Hi everyone!
About 2 days ago, I was using the Vista Home.. My friend brought some file to me, he use his USB drive. And my computer was infected by some kind of Virus. At that point I was using the AVG free. I am little bit concern, then I try to use the Kaspersky software. By the time I install on my laptop. It happened with "Windows Explorer has stopped working" again and again... it was so desperate because I couldn't do anything even task manager.. (in the safe mode, Windows
Explorer was okay)Well, first I doubt that was the virus, then, maybe some of the software is against explorer.exe?
So, I upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate hope to solve the problem... Unfortunately, it happened again :(
This time was much more better, but it is still annoying..
One thing I notice that every time I press any key from key board in My computer page, Windows Explorer will die.
Also, when I try to change the theme, it will die...
(I was trying to press" shift" to open a new explorer process in case one of explorer will stop working)
I already get rid of firefox, but windows explorer still crash in short period..
Thank u so much for your time and I am appreciate for any solution.. Please made solution easy to understand because I am not native speaker.
    Thanks again!

  • You have an error in usp10.dll:

(NTSTATUS) 0xc000041d (STATUS_FATAL_USER_CALLBACK_EXCEPTION - an unhandled exception was encountered during a user callback).

This is a MS dll and currently I have no idea what this DLL does.

The second crash comes from the file:

    C:\PowerWord PE\CBGrabModule_x64.dll

    Try to disbale it.

  • Hi,

please download this reg file from my SkyDrive:
    http://cid-128fc518635be2dc.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/MS%20Foren/Registry/WER%5E_Explorer.reg

and make a double click on the file to import it.

When the explorer crashes, you can find a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the file to your Skydrive and post the link here. I take at the dump, maybe I can see the cause.

  • Hi BrianZZ,

I would like to confirm what is the current situation? Have the issue been resolved by the suggestion Andre provided?

If not, what’s the result in Clean Boot?

    Regards,

  • Hi, i see this problem is very similiar to mine.
I just installed windows 7 x64 after buying new components.

There has been a few issues on the way but the biggest one so far is explorer.exe crashing and restaring all the time.
I cant seem to enter my external HD 500gig drive(alot of video and music related stuff) and it  goes haywire.

I just reinstalled the other day so all i have for now is AVG, Steam and live messenger, and ive tried to disable this, even removed firefox.

I uploaded a file like BrianZZ

Hope you can help me, i want my stuff :P

  • i have a ATI radeon 5850 black edition 3d card, might this be the issue?

    i run a 920 i7 CPU with a asus P6T motherboard...

Ive heard everything from RAM issues to memory leak on these ATI cards.

Now ive gotten even a new message, "windows assesment tool has stopped working" :\

This is driving nuts, i even installed x64 again in hope that it might have been a bug in the install itself :(
