Mail Merge problem on Windows 7


  • When I use Windows Vista, Office 2003 or Office 2007 to make mail merge to
    email. It work fine.
    After I make a clean install of Windows 7 or Windows 2008 and use Windows
    2003 or Windows 2007. The Mail format can only work fine when mail format is

    No message generate to outbox of Outlook if mail format is Plain Text or

    Any opinion?

    In Windows 7 environment. I have try
    1. "Detect and Repair" in Outlook.
    2. fixmapi.exe

    still no luck.

  • I have exactly the same issue. Tested on both Office 2003 and 2007, mail merging to email is only working to HTML. All other options fail to send an email, although there isn't an error, it just does do anything. Works fine in XP & Vista, but fails in Windows 7 RTM.

    We've tried similar repairs to you, and nothing has worked.

    Does anyone have any ideas of why these options don't work in Windows 7? Does something need to be enabled?

  • I have also the same issue, mail merging to email works only to HTML. All other options fails without any error. MAPI seems to be broken in Window 7.

  • Same issue. I have dual boot system. works perfect in xp pro. fails in windows 7. Does Microsoft know about this?

    No Bug, By-Design, which means it will never changed. Also it doesn't apply to 2007 and 2010.

  • I found out that with Windows 7 and Office 2010 you MUST download and install the hotfix KB980861, reboot, then run the repair on the Office installation, reboot, and then Word will perform any mail merge. It took me two months to come across this combination before it worked. The hotfix alone did not do anything until I ran the repair of Office.
