Windows 8 Enterprise Showing as Professional RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed Windows 8 enterprise a few days ago, no key was asked for on installation (assuming KMS I guess) and once installed it was showing as Windows 8 professional.

    I changed the key over to my enterprise MAK with slmgr /ipk xxxx-xxxx which activated OK, but my edition is still showing as pro.

    Any ideas why?

    The ISO (SW_DVD5_SA_Win_Ent_8_32BIT_English_Full_MLF_X18-16218.ISO) and MAK key were definitely for the enterprise edition. Is there any way to convert from Pro -> Enterprise?

  • Where did you download the ISO file from?

  • Directly from Microsoft's Volume Licensing site.

  • Incase I also Installed Windows 8 Enterprise also from SW_DVD5_SA_Win_Ent_8_32BIT_English_Full_MLF_X18-16218.ISO

    Likewise, it's downloaded directly from Microsoft Licensing Site

    System properties says it's Enterprise, but I faced some problems and I used PSR (Problem step recorder). In couple of steps there's Windows explorer and IE versions;

    Program: Windows Explorer, 6.2.9200.16384 (win8_rtm.120725-1247)

    Program: Internet Explorer, 10.00.9200.16384 (win8_rtm.120725-1247)

    Is this really an Enterprise or Enterprise RTM, any ideas?

  • Run Winver.exe, this tells you which edition you use.
