Windows 8 not detecting dvd drive

  • I get a dialog box stating "Windows cannot access specified device, path or file. Etc. May not have permission. This is with a Pioneer Blu-ray writer BD- 206

I did try cmd prompt as administrator and used: "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001  I think it is the right command and I pasted in to be sure. I got: path not found. Maybe the command is wrong or I need a different fix for this problem. I had no problem when using Windows 7.

    Any help appreciated

  • YOu forgot reg.exe add

    reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

Try this command and let us know if it is fixed.
