  • Hi,

This error message may occur if the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks component is not turned on on the remote computer.

  • You have a firewall issue that needs to be configured to work properly...You need to enable remote administration through the firewall...or port 135

  • After the Error message, you should wait for the services.msc to startup (takes a while).
Then under File/Properties you have the option to delete files. Do that first before everything else.
It is some kind of cache for services.msc that can get corrupted. Particularly when you have tried to connect to another computer from within services.msc.

  • Amazing! This fixed my issue. I thought for sure I was going to have to re-install Windows. Thanks Bart!
