How do I recover a file on Windows Vista? RRS feed

  • How do I recover a file on Windows Vista?

I just wrote a three-page paper. I was writing it all in one sitting and didn't think to save. (I know, I know, big mistake.) Well, just as I was finishing up I got an error message that the program was not responding. I just sort of automatically hit close without thinking because that's what I usually do when a program is not responding. Well, duh, my paper was not saved. So..is there a way to get it back? I've looked in the recycle bin. I looked in the TEMP folder under Windows. I looked under recent documents. Is it gone for good or is there a way to find it? Thank you so much for your help. Oh, it was in Microsoft Word 2003. I have Windows Vista.

    Additional Details

Oh, and I realize three pages is not that big of a deal. But I was just hoping to not have to rewrite it all again.

  • Hi

well if you didn't save it there is no way to recover it, because the document or file wasn't stored anywhere during writing.
And if a program crashes, all files which are not saved will get lost.

    As far as I know.
