Side by Side Daily Errors RRS feed

  • Question

  • Each day I have noted 3 Application side by side error 33's and 1 error 59.  These occure usually around the same time each day.  Today I realized that the task schedule for AITAgent Application Experience is running one minute prior to the side by side error entries. This pattern has repeated all week (since I last deleted Event Viewer logs).

The error 33 is related to desktop software for Research in Motion while error 59 is related to the MS search enhancement pack, searchbox etension invalid XML syntax.  I have had no problems with these applications and they appear to be working normally.  The Event Viewer error box indicates I should use sxstrace.exe for a complete diagnosis, however I have avoided doing so because I have not experienced system problems.

Has anyone else noted similar behavior as the result of the ATIagent running as a scheduled task?  This weekend I will disable the task and see if the errors go away. Any idea of what's going on?

Should have added it's a Dell Desktop XPS, clean install of Win 7 x64 about 6 months ago.

  • Hi,

Side by side errors occurs when a required Visual C++ Runtime version is missing.

Please run the Command prompt with admin rights [1] and run this command:

    SxsTrace Trace -logfile:SxsTrace.etl

Now run the programm which causes the SideBySide error.

Go back to the command prompt press ENTER to generate the SxsTrace.etl. Now type this:

    sxstrace Parse -logfile:SxSTrace.etl -outfile:SxSTrace.txt

Now open the SxSTrace.txt trace and look which VC++ runtime is missing.

If you are unsure, please upload the complete SxSTrace.txt to your SkyDrive [2] and post a link here.

    For Alex Zhaozx

I was able to run the sxstrace.exe program.  I do not see VC++ runtime issues, nor am I sure what I am looking at and  have posted the file to Skydrive, available here:  http://cid-e278ca3c8646cd00.skydrive.live.com/home.aspx?sa=191838020

While the sxstrace was active, the task scheduleer ran the AitAgent task.  However, this one time I did not receive event viewer notification of a side by side error.  Therefore, I'm not sure that this sxstrace actually captured the problem.

  • I ran another sxstrace this morning during which I recorded side by side errors in the MS search enhancement pack (error 59) and three Research In Motion Blackberry Desktop  occurences (error 33).  A copy of the sxsTrace.txt file is located under My Documents at:  http://cid-e278ca3c8646cd00.skydrive.live.com/home.aspx?sa=609207403.  The original sxstrace witout errors is in the New Folder.

I believe it's important to note that these errors occured approx 3 seconds after the AitAgent for MS Application Experience ran.  When that scheduled task is disabled there are no errors.  Perhaps and expert can read the trace and determine what is causing the problem.  Thanks for any help.

  • Thank You very much for your help. I did not recognize the error language as a runtime issue.

MS Visual C++ 2008 Redristributable Package (x64) installed now along with a security update.
