Windows 8 mail app does not work with Outlook Account


  • I have tried many times (several hours of attempts and internet searches) over the last 4 days trying to setup Windows 8 Mail app on a new Lenovo laptop (bought 4 days ago).

    I have filled out the "more detail" screen on the MAIL APP setup of an Outlook account and I still get an error.  Our server is running Exchange 2010.  I have downloaded our certificate through Windows Explorer several times.  I can use the Remote Desktop app on the Windows 8 machine.

    What is extremely disappointing is that I used the same setup information on my iPad (1 year ago) and my Android phone (2 years ago) and got both of them working in under 10 minutes.

    FYI - we do not use autodiscover

    Very frustrating and disappointing.

    Is this a known bug?

    Yes, it does.

    @mark9280, I have set exchange account in Mail App without any problem. Please check whether you are using the latest version of Mail. Also, you could try to uninstall it and install from Store again.
