  • Hi,

You might be able to recover a previous registry backup from windows system restore as described in :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

I would avoid using 3rd party registry tools at all costs.

NOTE: Be careful with this as some OEM copies of Windows are not compatible with this process, If your OS came with the PC pre-installed you may need to consult the manufacturer before following said article.

    Kind Regards,

    Martin

  • Any error message displayed while installing Microsoft Security Essentials?
Tyri using Microsoft Online Safety Scanner at the following address

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

or Symantec Norton Security Scan from the following address

    http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/DownloadInstructions.asp

to verify that your system is virus free.
After that, you can download and run the Wise Registry Cleaner Free tool from the following address

    http://www.wisecleaner.com/wiseregistrycleanerfree.html

and try to repair you registry (do not use this software to perform any kind of "optimization").

    Bye.
