Win7 Pro x64 bit HP LaserJet 3015 driver problem

    Question

  • Have tried various drivers from my HP LJ 3015 which is TCP/IP print server attached. Works just fine (still) with WinXP 32 on 2 other computers.

So far have tried Win 7 hp 3015 PCL 5 driver that comes with Win 7; Vista HP Universal Printer Driver x64 PCL 5; Win 7 HP Universal Printer Driver x64 PCL 6 driver. Even tried the scanner fix using manual addition of  hpvdb720.dll hpvd820.dll hpwm5db1.dll - nothing works.

Printer appears to spool test page, go into Printing then throws an error after about 30 seconds.

Called HP; they were not helpful because printer is out of warranty! No mention of any driver fix available.

    Thanks

    Michael

  • Hello,

Try to install printer driver with the following method:

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Devices and Printers.
    2. Click Add a Printer.
    3. Select "Add a local printer".
    4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port.

    5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format.

\\ [IP address of the host computer]\[The Share Name of the printer]

    Then click Next.

    6. Choose the correct driver in the driver list. If no available driver, click the button Windows Update, wait for the process finishes and then look for the driver again.
    7. Finish the installation.
