    Hi All, I just upgraded Windows Vista Basic to Vista Premium

    Buying the upgrade online from Windows and using the

    upgrade disk that came with the computer, a Emachine

    I just bought a few months ago. The upgrade I thought went

    ok, which doesnt mean much seeing that I am in no way a computer

    geek...wish I was right now...But when I tried using my DVD/CD

    drive I found out that it doesnt read any disks...Checked device

    manager and getting the yellow caution sign with a ! in the

    middle....guess that means a bad thing happened during upgrade because it worked ok before.

    checked a little more and see that there is a problem with the

    drivers...tried to download newest drivers but telling me I have

    the newest drivers already installed.....Well excuse me...Because

    I thought you just told me I didnt have ANY drivers installed?!

    Can anyone hold me by my hand and talk me through how to

    fix this? Thanks ahead of time for any and all help!!!

    Most likely you have a cd/dvd burning filter that has a conflict with another application. Did you just install a cd-dvd burning application or iTunes? If so try uninstalling them one by one, reboot and see if the ODDs work after that.

    That's what it was!!...Thank You!!....I had just installed a cd/dvd burner AND itunes and

    when I uninstalled them like you suggested the drivers loaded properly. Thanks so much!

    I am having a similar problem

    just installed some burning software b's recorder gold 2003

    then the dvd drive was not working

    device manager says my driver is ok but its not even apearing under my computer (yellow caution sign) 

    so I uninstalled b's recorder still doesn't work

     

    I can't connect to the internet to try and download new drivers (I am at work right now using the internet)

     

    What can I do to trouble shoot this??
