permanently deleting a wireless network RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have old wireless networks that i am not using since a year.

i am trying always to remove  them but the problem is that they are coming back in few seconds.

is there any way to remove them permanently?

    thanks.

  • Presumably you have tried removing them via Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Networks (in the left pane) and right-click the one you want to Remove.

If you’ve tried that and it did not make the removal permanent, perhaps deleting the relevant registry key will resolve it. Network information can be found under this registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles. The right pane contains the details, e.g. ProfileName is the Network Name (SSID).

  • I wonder if your network connection problem could be an infection. If you haven’t run your ‘anti’ programs, I suggest you do so right now.

As you are unfamiliar with registry updating, I won’t tell you how to do it, but you could ask a more knowledgeable friend or relative to help you.

  • yes i have tried removing networks through Network and sharing center/manage wireless etc...

    The problem now is worse:

i have 3 old networks at the top (priority) and the new home network is coming against my will in the fourth place. If i have to connect to the home network, i have to delete very quickly the 3 old ones before asking for connection, and every time I remove the third one, the first one is re-appearing on top. it is driving me crazy before i connect to the Internet.
