MBSA links and FAQ gone RRS feed

  • Question

  • All the links to download MBSA from Google seem to have been removed, and the old FAQ post has been removed also. The main link of -

now prodiuces a 404 error. Have Microsoft given up on MBSA, and is there an equivalent?

  • I just ran into this same problem where every link was dead or redirected to a generic search page. It appears they have quietly retired to tool.

The page linked below was just updated 4 Oct 2018.

    The answer:

"While MBSA version 2.3 introduced support for Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1, it has since been deprecated and no longer developed. MBSA 2.3 is not updated to fully support Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016."

The link provided above has additional links to scripts that would do the compliance portion. Hopefully this helps.

  • that's a shame they are no longer going to develop it, was a really useful tool not just for patch compliance but also looking for issues like share permissions. Always alternative ways but it was a very painless way to get a quick security report on multiple devices.

  • Any idea what to use? I need to scan Computers against Microsoft to find out missing patches.

  • The prior post provides a page link.  On that page you will find a description of the script to use instead of MBSA.
