Windows Media Player Won't Play Music RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm not able to play music on the Windows Media Player on my HP Envy laptop, and I was wondering if you could help.  The Media Player was working fine the last time I used it - a week or so ago - and the audio is ok - I can still play CDs & DVDs.  When I click on a song from my library I receive the error: "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file."  I tried to troubleshoot the problem and then tried a few solutions I saw online, but haven't had any luck.  It's a WMP 12 for Windows 7.  Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jesse

  • I have been using hp envy m6 1225dx and suddenly the same problem has started. My windows media player fails to play all media files including mp3 and videos. I have tried to uninstall it but the same problem persist. It only works after reinstalling the windows media player by turning on the windows media futures. But the problem repeats only after restarting my windows

  • I suspect some media package is resetting your media player codecs and/or associations

have you installed any software recently?

you may have to remove some codec or media packages from add/remove

  • He did. He said it was an HP Envy laptop. Most people don't have custom built rigs.
