Windows XP slow shut down RRS feed

  • Question

  • I realise that Windows XP is not supposed to run properly nowadays but up till recently the machine was working fine and I`d like to know when is wrong with it. It`s very slow every time when shutting down and in the Event Viewer it says: "The server {9B1F122C-2982-4E91-AA8B-E071D54F2A4D} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." After searching on the internet I figured that this probably has to do with the Windows Update but I`d like to ask you whether the now impossible update is the only reason. Thank you very much in advance.

  • What steps do you take to initiate the shutdown?

  • Hello

I believe you'll have to gather more information at the moment of shutdown.

In any case, since it is a Windows XP you can try disabling Windows Update from the Services console.

    Start>Run>Services.msc: Select Windows Update service>Properties>Disable

    Hope it helps
