HP LaserJet 1200 and Windows 7 RC 64 bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • My HP Laserjet 1200 doesn't install correctly.
I have driver update to automatically go to Windows update.
Message says HP LaserJet 1200 printer doesn't have a driver.

I installed Windows 7 RC 64 bit on a different partion-
I have a DUAL BOOT setup with WIN XP PRO SP3 32 bit OS on first partition-
Win 7 works Ok except for the HP LaserJet 1200

HP Laserjet works fine on WIN XP PRO SP3 32 bit OS

Win 7 RC 64 bit recognised my Canon i960 inkjet printer OK and pthat prints OK

HP website says they doen't support BETA OS
Something about I have to check back nearer to when Win 7 is released.

  • FIXED IT MYSELF!

    Downloaded file HPUPD47PCL664
    Opened folder HPUPD47PCL664
    cliked on install.exe
    selected traditional printer install
selected port as Dot_4 or something like that
    driver installed
printed a test page and that printed out Ok
Opened a MS Word 2002 file and that printed out OK
Devices and Printer window still shows HP LaserJet 1200 printer icon with the yellow warning triange
PLUS it shows another printer as HP Universal Printing PCL6 (v.4.7) [set as DEFAULT]
Device and Printer window also still shows my Canon Inkjet i960.
    ALL IS GOOD!!

  • hi edge 130

Quick question, where did you get the file HPUPD47PCL664

I have looked for it but all I get is a dead link.

    Thanks,

  • My HP Laserjet 1200 is connected to the network through another PC using XP. I can use the shared printer with my desktop XP computer and I can see it on the network with my Win 7 64 bit laptop, but the laptop will not print to it. I tried downloading the file suggested above but I get an error when I try to link the driver to the printer. Is it impossible to run the printer shared on a 32 bit machine with a networked 64 bit version of Win 7?
