usb flash drive not working on my win7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have one USB sandisk cruzer 16GB. It works fine in other computer except my win7 32bit computer.

After plug in, I can heard the sound. then the machine running on searching the flash drive, it shows G:\ (instead of automatically assign it to E:\). double click can open with no content (I can read files in other computer)

are there anything I can do for my computer (I did restart, update)

  • More often than not when a device isnt working it is because the driver has become corrupted. Re-installing a fresh copy should help

  • It's very likely that the files and folders are hidden due to a virus attack. Open G:\ drive from Computer. Click Organize->Folder and search options. Go to view tab. Select Show hidden files, folders and drives. Also, remove the tick from hide protected operating system files (Recommended). Click Ok for the warning message popup. Now click Apply and then Ok. Then check the presence of files and folders.

If you can see the files and folders now, do the following:

Go to start->type cmd->press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (for administrative mode). Click Yes if UAC prompts. Now, type the following commands and press enter after each command (line):

    G:

    attrib -s -h -r /s /d

This will unhide all the files and folders.

The drive letter being G:\ is not an issue and you can change it to E:\  by referring the link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-add-or-remove-a-drive-letter
