eFax messenger error cannot find JSDVWSDK.DLL each time I open IE

    Question

  • Hi,
I tried to install a 3rd party fax reader program, I didn't know it was not compatible with Win 7 64 until after.  Now each time I open IE I get the following error window:

    eFax Messenger Plus
    JSDVWSDK.DLL
    Cannont find this file.
Please verify that the correct path and file name are give.

So far here is what I have tried:
    1) I tried copying the JSDVWSDK.DLL file from ..Windows\SysWOW64 into ..\Windows\System32  maybe I should have registered it, but I did not and it made no effect so I removed the file back out of System32

    2) I uninstalled IE8 rebooted, re-installed IE8 and that also had no effect.

There appears to be a lot of other people with this problem, but I can't find an answer anywhere.  Please help, it is anoying.  The only thing I found was that people said they worked around the issue by using FireFox.

    What should I try next?

    thanks

  • What your report does not state is whether you uninstalled or attempted to uninstall the third party fax program. An the answer to that is ????  Does this third party fax program show up on a list of installed programs?

  • Hi Thanks for the response.  I don't think it ever showed in the list of installed programs so I can't uninstall it.

  • Hello.  This did not work for me.  I have Win7 64-bit.  I got to the Registry Editor (up to #6 above) but I could not locate and delete the keys that you mention.
