TabTip.exe Stoped working after apply update KB3176938 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I used to open the keyboard from code like the following:

                string progFiles = @"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ink";
                string keyboardPath = System.IO.Path.Combine(progFiles, "TabTip.exe");
                System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(keyboardPath);

    Unfortunately after clients applied update KB3176938 for Windows 10 Version 1607 the above code don't work anymore.

    Even by executing TabTip.exe directly from File Explorer does not work. What should I do to get this working again?

    Thank you

  • My solution (works for me):

    All settings -> Devices -> Typing -> "Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no keyboard attached"

    set swith to ON

    then try call "tabtib.exe" from anywhere

  • Hi,

    There is the same issue on my Windows 10 computers.

    That could be something wrong. Please submit this issue into Feedback hub app and I will also record in our channel.

    Till now, the workaround could be using on-screen keyboard.

    C:\Windows\System32\osk.exe

  • Me too,
    In windows 10 1607 (after KB3176938), program(s) call "tabtip.exe" don't work,
    even in "Windows start/run" typein: "tabtip.exe" also doesn't work.

    We are using traditional Chinese Windows 10,
    so "C:\Windows\System32\osk.exe" doesn't be suitable we typein traditional Chinese.
