Issue with 2 Windows 7 laptops connecting to internet at same time

  • I am having an issue with my laptop and my fiance's laptop connecting to my WiFi router at the same time.  I just bought a Toshiba satellite and she has a Dell Inspiron.  We have noticed that when both of our laptops are on at the same time her internet connection drops. I change my TCP/IP's configuration from obtain automatically to using a specific one and that seems to have temporarily solved the problem.  I'm afraid that when I take my laptop to another network I will have to go into the network settings and set it to obtain ip automatically every time.  Does anyone have any suggestions so that both our laptops will work on the same network at the same time.

  • Check your Wifi routers DHCP settings.

  • Thanks, I looked into the DHCP settings on my router and change both her's and my IP's to a static lease. Seems to be working now.  Thanks alot
