Pinned Control Panel: Broken Admin Tools link RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

after installing a fresh version of Windows 10 on both of my main systems last November, my pinned control panel has a broken link to Admin Tools, see attachment...

I had hoped an update would fix the issue, but no, neither does...

    sfc /scannow

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The odd thing is, the other systems on my network are all fine, these were just upgraded to the latest version rather than getting a fresh install.

Paths and Security all look the same on all systems, so I'm at a loss!
Any help or suggestions are welcome.

  • Hi,

Try and see if the following could help you out:

    1. Open a File Explorer.
    2. Click on View.
    3. Click on Options.
    4. Click on Change folder and search options.
    5. Click on Clear at the bottom.

    6. Try the pinned buttons again.

If these did not work you could always try to remove the pin, restart the computer and re-pin them and see if it works.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Leon,

No I'm afraid not, I have already tried those suggestions.

This is affecting two systems installed in the same week and from first log in.

I think I'm just going to reinstall one of them with 1803 media and see.

But if you have any other suggestions, let me know.

    Thanks for the help.

Can you get here and see it listed?

    Control Panel\System and Security\

Then you could do right-click Create Shortcut with it.

What's the difference in the two shortcuts?
