December 12, 2012 I downloaded Windows 8 using my TechNet account.I installed Windows 8 from the DVD I created, keeping my Windows 7 user files.I have no problem running Windows 8, except my touch screen doesn't work using my fingers.
The mouse works. The pen works. Each finger touch only makes an error kind of beep. What is wrong? I've searched the Internet and can't find a solution. How many people with a Lenovo X220Tablet upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8?
Am I the only one? Should I use a clean install? Could I've selected the wrong download from TechNet?Control Panel Item System says Windows Edition Windows 8 Pro.Pen and Touch is new in Windows 8. I don't remember seeing it in Windows 7 Control Panel. My Pen and Touch has only 3 tabs. On the Internet I've seen Pen and Touch with 5 tabs. Not only that, my open Touch tab has no Check box for "Use your finger as input device"
Download and install the ThinkPad Monitor INF File for Windows 8: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032032
it could be a digitizer calibration issue (maybe).
different touch capabilities exist across vendors, and vendors implement touch in varying ways, so it's not always reasonable to compare one implementation with another (unless they are exactly the same product, i guess)

Done Carey's idea. Same problem. Touch Pen still works. Touch finger still doesn't work. Thanks for the thought.Doing Don's idea: First link went for about 10 minutes before I saw Lenovo upgrading to Win8 from Win7 page. It'll take 30 to 120 minutes it says but I must leave for Las Vegas now. I'll be back here in a few days.Happy New Year...
