Windows 10 froze after 1709 version

  • Hello,

    I'm attempting to reinstall windows 10 1709 and now windows freezes at the logon black screen, I have to use another laptop to post this. Has anyone encounterd the similar problem?

    Information: HP laptop, windows 10 pro, 8GB ram.

    A system freeze is usually caused by compatibility issues. We suggest checking if the device is compatible with Windows 10 Fall Creators update. If the device is compatible, you may try to start computer in safe mode. This will start Windows using a limited set of files and drivers. This is performed to check if device drivers aren't causing the issue.

  • 1) What was happening that you needed to reinstall the Windows 10 1709?

    2) Which method was used?

    a) clean install with a windows 10 iso

    b) reset with save files

    c) reset with remove files

    d) factory OEM

    e) other?

    3) When you power on the computer now what do you see and hear?

    a) HP icon

    b) Microsoft icon

    c) rotating dots

    d) lock screen /wallpaper

    e) other?

    4) When you open the BIOS menu using the F2 what HP UEFI diagnostics tests are available?

    5) If available run the extensive test or the loop until failure test overnight > report the results into the thread

    6) Open the HP website > support and drivers > enter the computer's product or serial number > select the operating system > view drivers > post a URL or hyperlink into the thread
