Driver_power_state_failure

    Question

  • When I manually shut down my Vista Ultimate x64, the screen says "Shutting Down" for about 10-15 minutes, then it gives me a BSOD reading "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE." It dumped the kernel, and I perused it, looking for any clues that would help me at all. Apparently, my Marvell Yukon NIC driver was taking too long, so Vista has to initialize a STOP command and auto reboot. I updated to the latest drivers and I attached the debug from the kernel dump. Any help?

  • I'm having the same problem, with Vista Ultimate 32 bits.

Upgraded to the latest Marvell Yukon version and still no luck.

Possible solution is to disable CPU power savings modes in BIOS setup

For Intel Core 2 series CPU

look for EIST (Intel speedstep) and C1E (or something similar)

    Sunday, May 18, 2008 12:31 PM
  • I have exactly the same problem, my system is a IBM T60p, disabling CPU power savings did not help.

The problem has been here for more than two weeks. The PC will not shut down, I can see in the event log that the VSS process is causing problems during the shutdowm. Another problem (I don't know if they are related) is the the PC will not recognize new USB devices, if the USB device (like a pen drive) is inserted before the PC is booted, it works. But if it is inserted after boot, nothing happens !!!

    Any sugestions

    Thanks

    Casper

  • The same problem with ASUS motherboard with onboard Intel ethernet adapter and another case with an Acer laptop with Atheros ethernet adapter...
Are there any solutions/workarounds published yet?
