Vista and zip files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently, on opening a zip file I downloaded from a website (the zip file is an mp3 file), the file became associated with Internet Explorer (7) and would not open. The IE screen opened and began flashing repeatedly and I was unable to close the program or navigate to any other file. I had to manually shut down the computer.  I attempted to open two additional zip files and the same problem occurred.  What is going on and how do I fix it?

  • Hey Kgh1,
Since nobody's offered you any help, I will.  I would go to control panel and open "Folder Options" and change the file association for that extension you're having problems with from Internet Explorer to ,,, whatever you want it to associate with,,, be it winzip, media player, whatever.  Hope this helps.
