Upgrading Windows 10 1602 LTSC to Windows 10 1809 Enterprise SAC RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm trying to find out how to upgrade Windows 10 1602 Long Term Service Channel (LTSC) to Windows 10 1809 Enterprise Semi-Annual Channel (SAC).

The company doesn't have a SCCM Server but I have access to one. They will have Intune but Autopilot doesn't work with versions lower than 1703 from what I've read.

    • Is this possible with just using a Windows 10 feature update after changing the channel using a script? - Looks like this is not possible, only through an in-place upgrade
    • Is it possible with the Windows 10 1809 source media?

What are the ways on deploying this to multiple devices:

    1. Run feature update / 1809 media manually from a USB stick or network share
    2. Build a offline SCCM Task Sequence for an in-place upgrade
    3. Build a MDT Server and a task sequence for the upgrade
    4. Use WSUS *if you can use a feature update?
    5. A script or some sort?
    6. Any way via Intune/Autopilot is the version isn't an issue?
    7. Any options I've missed?

  • Got it working. If you just try to run the setup without any switches the option to save apps will be grayed out. You have to run the setup with the product key switch and use a key that is valid for Windows 10 Enterprise SAC. The below example is when using a KMS.

    "setup.exe" /auto upgrade /quiet /pkey NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43
