  • Question

  • Hi All,

Need your advice on below please

    * We have SCCM CB 1710, SCOM 2016. And we are in the migration of on-premises servers to AWS cloud. Can I keep the SCCM/SCOM application server on-premises and move only SQL to AWS cloud as PAAS model. Will that work and is there any issue happen while raising case with Microsoft?

    * Does SQL Always-On supported for existing System center products which is in SQL cluster mode

    Please suggest

    Regards, Pratap

Answers

  • No, ConfigMgr does not support SQL in any PaaS environment. You need to ask in an OpsMgr forum whether it can or cannot although I suspect that the answer is the same.

Yes, ConfigMgr is fully supported in a SQL Always On Availability Group. Same answer for OpsMgr: you need to ask in an OpsMgr forum although once again, I suspect that OpsMgr also supports SQL AO AGs.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for posting in TechNet.

AOAG is also supported for SCOM. Refer to the following article.

Deploying SCOM into the AlwaysOn Availability Group

Hope my answer could help you and look forward to your feedback.

  • Don't confuse Always On in the AWS PaaS service with SQL AO AG in your own or IaaS hosted SQL.

As noted, ConfigMgr does not support (nor will it work in) SQL hosted in a PaaS service which would include the AWS SQL Always On service.
