16 bit application on 64 bit OS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Trying to determine the most efficient way to accomplish this.  Would I be better off running the 16 bit apps under a version of Windows on a VM on the 64 bit machine or running the application on a stand alone PC which will allow 16 bit applications to install?

Either way I will need to install the appropriate OS.  I guess the real question is............. Can I run 16 bit applications with a VM on the 64 bit machine?

    Thanks much.

  • Hi Iemondrop93444,

“Can I run 16 bit applications with a VM on the 64 bit machine?”

I am afraid it is not available to run  a 16 bit applications on a 64 bit machine .Fortunately we can run it on a 32 bit architecture system .

Here is a link for reference :
64-bit versions of Windows do not support 16-bit components, 16-bit processes, or 16-bit applications

“running the application on a stand alone PC”

If you choose a standalone pc ,we can try to install a dual-boot configuration with a 32 bit system as the link said  ,or we can install a 32 bit system directly in the VM of the machine if it is possible.

    Best regards
