KB2858725

    Question

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 for Windows Vista x64-based Systems (KB2858725)

Downloaded KB2858725 with no errors. Received msg "Windows update successful (not needed). On checking for updates again this same update is ready to download again. If it is not needed why did it show up again after a sucessful install which was not needed anyway? Can you tell me what's going on with this one? Thanks

  • Hi,

Please check the windows update and see whether the update really installed successfully.

click Start> type Update in the search box>and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update>In the navigation pane, click View update history.

If it is there, in addition to the methods above, please also try the following methods.

1 Download and install the System Update Readiness tool:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

    2 Reset Windows Update components:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

.NET Framework Setup team can help look into the detailed install logs from your machine and investigate the root cause. You can provide logs from the machine as per below:

    1. Repro the reoffering scenario
    2. Download and run the diagnostic tool from an elevated command prompt: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0da314f-6216-4a18-bc6b-7d29cf83af20&displaylang=en
    3. Share the vslogs.cab log file generated by this tool, which can be found here:  %temp%\vslogs.cab

You can send the file to netfxsetup_at_microsoft_dot_com (Alias: netfxsetup).

Q: Have you also tried installing the update manually from here?

    Thanks,
