XP Freezes after Standby or Hibernate

  • After using either Standby or Hibernate my computer (XP) will not recover fully and freezes forcing a shut down and restart.

This only appears to happen if an internet web page is left open when I use standby or hibernate.

All drivers are up to date and there have been no changes to the system.  The system id clean and the windows updates are up to date.

I have tried a clean boot and no difference.

I use MSE along with Malwarebytes Pro which do run together with exceptions.

    Any ideas?

  • Try updating the motherboard BIOS and check if BIOS settings are properly configured. As for the hardware part, your power supply might be weak. Perhaps it is not giving the required power to power up the RAM and other devices which continue to operate even in suspended mode.
